    Yuki Kawabata, Ph. D., is a Professor of School of Management in Chukyo University. He received Ph.D. (Industrial Engineering and Management) from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He previously worked for International University of Japan, House of Representatives, and PricewaterhouseCoopers etc. His main fields of research are inter-organizational relationship and international business.

    Proceedings of International Conference on Business, Economics and Information Technology 2020 Sydney, 1, 37, 2020, refereed, Single Work, Promotion of new and competitive industries through cross-sectoral inter-organizational collaborations are tackled in many regions in the world. This is to adapt, compete and survive for industrial district where economic and industrial environments are increasingly becoming dynamic, complex and interconnected. Here the key is to consider how to manage self-organization process of diversified actors which is featured by complexity. Based on the approach of planned change, this study focuses on the initial conditions, field, and emerging interaction toward the collaborations as key elements for the management through intervention. Then, in the case study, experiences of medical technology industry of the three states in Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, and Baden-Wuerttemberg) are examined by focusing on the facilitators who work on the management. Lastly, the result of the study is comparatively analyzed and the implications for the management are considered.

    Proceedings of International Conference on Business, Economics and Information Technology 2019 Singapore, 1, 30, 2018, refereed, Single Work, The purpose of this study is to consider management approaches to build and operate a regional system for promoting regional competitive industries through facilitating cross-sectoral collaborations. Firstly, literature concerning the structure of the system and approach to build and operate it are reviewed. Here, the key is to combine top-down public and bottom up creative forces.Then, in the case study, experience of several states in Germany are studied by focusing on the actors and process to build the system for promoting medical technology industry. Lastly, the result of the study is comparatively analyzed and the implications for the management are considered.
